Chail is a beautiful town near Shilma, which is popular for housing the highest cricket ground in the world, placed at an altitude of 2144 meters above the sea level. A haven for hikers, Chail is the perfect weekend getaway destination from Delhi. A beautiful hill station around 49 km from Shimla, Chail is enclosed by the pine and deodar forests. The former summer capital of the Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh, Chail is placed on three small hills- Pandhewa, Rajgarh and Sadh Tiba hills. This town bustles with high tourist activity. Family vacationers and honeymooners visit Chail to get away from the hectic city life and enjoy lush greenery, which is sprinkled all around. Apart from natural beauty, the town is also dotted with a number of tourist attractions. If you love adventure sports, you can indulge in angling, nature walks, trekking, hiking and horse riding.

How to Reach Chail

By Train

The nearest railhead to Chail is at Kalka, which is located at a distance of 86 km. To reach Chail, you can hire a taxi or can go on-board a bus. A hired taxi may cost around INR 1700. The railway station in Chandigarh is another option, about 95 km away. Both these railway stations receive regular trains from Delhi.

By Air

Jubbarhati Airport in Shimla is the nearest airport from Chail, which is located at a distance of around 63 km away. This airport is well connected to Delhi through regular flights. You can hire a taxi or a jeep from the airport to Chail, which may cost somewhere around INR 1,500.

By Road

Renting a taxi is the best option. Chail is around 333 km from Delhi, via Chandigarh and Solan. Take this road. Then the road from here takes you to Kandaghat, which is around 18 km and you finally reach Chail from here. The distance between Kandaghat and Chail is just 29 km. You can also go for state-run buses or Chartered buses.

Attractions in Chail

Chail Palace : Erected by the Maharaja of Patiala, Maharana Ranjit Singh, the splendid Chail Palace was a former lodging place for the British. Spread in 75 acres of land, this palace was built in 1891, which has now been converted into a heritage hotel.

Chail Wildlife Sanctuary: he former hunting grounds of the Royal Kingdom of Patiala, Chail forest became a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1976. With a varying altitude of 701 meters to 2180 meters above the sea level, this sanctuary is home to some exotic animal and bird species.

Gurudwara Sahib: Erected in the year 1907 on the Pandhawa hills, Gurudwara Sahib is a small but beautiful religious site, which is visited by the locals as well as the tourists. This yellow-color Gurudwara is placed in a beautiful well-manicured lawn.

Kali Ka Tibba: An ancient temple in Chail, Kali Devi temple is flocked by a large number of devotees every year. Kali Devi is the residing deity of Chail. This temple also offers a nice view of the surroundings.

Siddh Baba Ka Mandir: Sidh Baba Ka Mandir is one of the most popular religious places in Chail. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh built this temple and dedicated it to a saint who came in his dream. This temple site, originally chosen for making a palace, offers amazing views of the surrounding area.

Cricket Ground: Chail cricket ground is popular as being the highest cricket ground in the world, which is located at an altitude of 2144 meters above the sea level. Surrounded by pine and deodar trees, this playground was commissioned in 1893, by the Maharaja of Patiala. This ground is also used for playing polo.


Day 01 : Drive from Chandigarh/Delhi to Kasauli

On your arrival at the Chandigarh Airport/Railway station Incredible Himachal Holidays representative will assist you in transferring to Kasauli by road, a famous hill station discovered by the British during the Raj (Pick-Up from Delhi will be arranged at an additional cost). Although Britishers have gone, they’ve left behind more than a mere hint of their presence - in the quiet cobbled streets, the flower-filled gardens fronting gabled bungalows and the lovely churches around Kasauli. Check in to the hotel on reaching Kasauli and freshen up. Later, we will proceed to MankiPoint known for Lord Hanuman’s temple ans spectacular view of valey. The view of the monkey point is fantabulous.On returning back from temple visit the Upper and Lower Mall Road of Kasauli.


Day 02 : Drive from Kasauli to Shimla 77 Kms.

After Breakfast, proceed for the Queen of Hills – Shimla. On reaching Shimla check in to your pre-booked hotel and relax. Later visit the second oldest Church in North India consecrated in 1857, Jakhu temple, and the State Museum. Do not miss a leisure wall on the Ridge road, while treating your eyes to the beauty all around. In the evening, return to the hotel for overnight stay and dinner.


Day 03 : Shimla-Mashobra-Naldehra-Tattapani Sightseeing Places

After Breakfast proceed for Naldehra which has a nine-hole golf course. The British viceroy, Lord Curzon who had supervised the laying of the Kalka-Shimla railway line, designed it. In the middle of the golf course is the Mahunag Temple. Near Naldehra are the villages of Mashobra and Craignano. Mashobra has an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga which is surrounded by thick forests. Craignano is popular as a quiet picnic spot. Later we will proceed for Tatta pani which is known for its hot water springs on the banks of the river Satluj. You can take a dip into the sulphur water of the spring. A dip into the water of the spring provides relief to the people suffering from joint pains, fatigue or any type of skin disease and hence has got a great medicinal quality. This natural sulphur spring is pure and has curative powers of various kinds. The temperature of the water keeps fluctuating depending on the water level of the river. If you are an adventure sports lover you can also enjoy white water rafting in river Satluj at Tattapani. In the evening return back to Shimla. Dinner & night stay at hotel..


Day 04 : Shimla-Kufri-Chail Sightseeing Places

Post breakfast proceed for Kufri (2501 meters) situated 16 kms from Shimla. It is popular for its ski slopes and for hiking. What makes Kufri famous is the the picturesque location, horse rides and the Himalayan National park. Later proceed for Chail which is a quaint hill station happily isolated from the rest of Himachal and occupying prime position on three hills. At Chail you will experience nature at its best and can have a tryst with adventure. The drive to Chail is scenic, winding around the gorgeous valleys, past forests thick with foliage and fruit laden orchards. Chail is also famous for World’s highest cricket ground perched at a height of 2,144m. In the evening return back to Shimla for night stay and dinner.


Day 05 : Drive from Shimla to Chandigarh

Post breakfast on the last day, Gather your sweet memories of Shimla trip and leave for Chandigarh or Delhi(at additional cost). On reaching we will drop you at railway station/airport for your onward journey

Terms And Conditions

Payments: For all the services contracted, certain advance payment should be made to hold the booking, on confirmed basis & the balance amount can be paid either before your departure from your country or upon arrival in INDIA but definitely before the commencement of the services. Management personnels hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as advance payment, based on the nature of the service & the time left for the commencement of the service.

Apart from above in some cases like Special Train Journeys, hotels or resorts bookings during the peak season (X-Mas, New Year), full payment is required to be sent in advance.

Mode of Payment: Overseas advance payment can be made through Wire Transfer to our bank.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of cancellation of tour / travel services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reason/s we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows:

  • 45 days prior to arrival: 15% of the Tour / service cost
  • 15 days prior to arrival: 50% of the Tour / service cost
  • 07 days prior to arrival: 75% of the Tour / service cost
  • 48 hours prior to arrival OR No Show: No Refund

Note: Written cancellation will accept on all working days, except Sunday, Any cancellation sent on Sunday's will be considered on next working day (Monday).

For the X-mas and new year period from 20 Dec to 05 Jan the payment is non-refundable.

In case you cancel the trip after commencement, refund would be restricted to a limited amount only which too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers/ contractors we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation & missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

Trekking, Tour and adventure actives in Himalayan region carry an inherent risk to life and goods. The natural calamities may cause injury and loss of life, which is beyond any control. Tour Uttarakhand does its best to minimize all types of risks, discomfort and hazard to the best of their ability, yet there are chances of accidents, mishaps and deficiency in service.


  • Any delay from the customer’s side will lead to cancellation of trek/ tour/ adventure activities.
  • Trekking Tour Adventure maybe cancelled due to some unavoidable circumstances i.e- weather condition, govt. notification, land sliding or any other natural calamity.
  • Trekking in Uttarakhand reserves the right to discontinue, modify any trek, tour & adventure activities without assigning any reasons or without any prior intimation whatsoever.
  • Anybody found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs medically or physically unfit (any serious ailment, weak heart conditions, epilepsy, asthma, expecting mothers etc.) unfit for any reasons in the wisdom of the trek leader/guide/instructor will not be allowed for trekking /tour/ adventure activities. Request for a refund or a discount in such situation will not be entertained. Decision of the trek lead/guide/management in this regard would be final.
  • Total decided package cost will not be affected if there is any reduction in the number of persons
  • Minimum required 50% of amount to get confirmed the trek/tour/adventure activities.
