Dayara Bugyal is perhaps one of the most beautiful alpine meadow in India. “Bugyal” in the native language stands for a “high altitude meadow”. The meadow stretches out far and wide. The panoramic view of the Himalayas from here is breathtaking. Situated at an elevation of about 3656 M, Dayara Bugyal & Bedni Bugyal are listed among the few largest and well known meadows in the Garhwal Himalayas The trek goes through open stretches and dense forest at different places. In winters the meadows are covered with snow & look extremely beautiful. The panoramic views of the Banderpunch and the Gangotri range seen from this meadow are simply heaven. The meadow also supports a rich floral diversity.

Difficulty Level : Dayara Bugyal Trek

One who has an experience of trekking can do it quite easy and it isn’t even hard for the first timers but can get little tiring while trekking, though anybody with a decent fitness can trek to Dayara Bugyal and this could be the most magnificent and incredible journey for the trekkers.

Is it suitable for children’s?

Yes, the trek is favorable for children’s up to 5 years of age but there are certain additional logistical support that we recommend for children’s.

Is it a good option for the first time trekkers /or families?

Yes, this is the first Himalayan trek, we recommend for those who have a less or no prior experience in trekking , this trek does not have tricky patches, and a well planned itinerary will not making it tiring and uncomfortable for you to trek.

Highest altitude : Dayara Bugyal Trek

One can attain a maximum altitude of 10,000-12,500 ft subject to his endurance and other conditions such as a climate, temperature. The trek brings us to the higher land meadows and the lush green grassland serves as an excellent destination for skiing during winters and is spread over 28sq km.

Duration : Dayara Bugyal Trek

The trek lasts for 4 days including pickup and return, if it is booked with us. Certain information to take care is mention below related to the per day trekking hours.

First day: Dehradun to Barsu – (7545 Ft.) 220 Km, 6- 7 hrs.

Second day: Barsu to Dayara Bugyal- (11600 Ft.) 8-9 kms, 6-7 hrs trek.

Third day: Dayara Bugyal to Dayara Top - (12000 Ft.), 2-3 hrs trek to reach the top.

Fourth day: Dayara Bugyal to Raithal take 2 hrs and from Raithal to Dehradun/Rishikesh 5-6 hrs.

Dayara Bugyal trek in winter will transcend your trekking experience. As in December, the place experiences heavy snowfall and the verdant charm is completely covered with a white layer of snow which makes it the best time for skiing.

Day 1- Rishikesh to Raithal (208 kms, 9 Hrs )

Today early morning we start our journey for Raithal base. We pass through the towns of Rishikesh, Chamba and Uttarkashi. Raithal is a small village about 39 kms from Uttarkashi and is on the way to Gangothri. Raithal is the base camp for Dayara Bugyal trek and offer mesmerizing Himalayas view of Gangotri range, Overnight stay at Barsu in a guest house.


Day 2 -Raithal to Gui (5 Kms trek )

We pass through the beautiful villages, landscape of Rhododendrons, Silver Oaks, Deodar. Gui is a place from where the famed meadow of Dayara starts. The miles of green meadows stretching as far as your eye can see is a beautiful sight. Night stay in camp.


Day 3 - Gui to Dayara Bugyal (4 Kms trek )

The trail to the high alpine meadow Dayara Bugyal, is through the Barnala meadows. The landscape is picturesque and the full of dense forests in Himalayas. As you end ascend at Dayara, the vast meadow unfolds in front of you. The meadow is like a table top as you set foot on the meadow the sight of the mighty Himalayas surrounds you. Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III , Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda I & II, Black peak, Bandarpunch and many other unnamed peaks are visible from Dayara Bugyal meadow. Overnight stay in camps..


Day 4- Dayara Bugyal to Dayara top and back (6 kms trek)

Bakaria Top (3657 M is the highest point of Dayara Bugyal, it’s a steep ascent to Bakaria top. Dayara Bugyal is divided into many small bugyals and Bakaria top is one of them. We start trek along the meadows and gain altitude gradually till we reach Bakaria Top. The views from the top take your breath away. Snow capped mountains, valley deep below, towns as far as Uttarkashi can be seen from the top. It offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the entire greater Himalayas. We descend back to Dayara to camp for the night stay.


Day 5- Dyara Bugyal to Rishikesh via Barsu (4 Kms trek +220 kms )

We descend down to Barsu along a well marked trail through the thick forests. The village of Barsu and the adjoining settlements can be sighted half way down the trail. We reach Barsu by afternoon and head to Rishikesh.

Note: – Many trekkers commit the same mistake of carrying unnecessary items on a trek which only makes the backpack heavy. It is important to know the right items to carry.
It differs from season to season if you are trekking in summers then carry less layers of warm clothing and if you are trekking in winters carry enough layers to protect yourself against chilly cold.

    Terms And Conditions

    Payments: For all the services contracted, certain advance payment should be made to hold the booking, on confirmed basis & the balance amount can be paid either before your departure from your country or upon arrival in INDIA but definitely before the commencement of the services. Management personnels hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as advance payment, based on the nature of the service & the time left for the commencement of the service.

    Apart from above in some cases like Special Train Journeys, hotels or resorts bookings during the peak season (X-Mas, New Year), full payment is required to be sent in advance.

    Mode of Payment: Overseas advance payment can be made through Wire Transfer to our bank.

    Cancellation Policy: In the event of cancellation of tour / travel services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reason/s we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows:

    • 45 days prior to arrival: 15% of the Tour / service cost
    • 15 days prior to arrival: 50% of the Tour / service cost
    • 07 days prior to arrival: 75% of the Tour / service cost
    • 48 hours prior to arrival OR No Show: No Refund

    Note: Written cancellation will accept on all working days, except Sunday, Any cancellation sent on Sunday's will be considered on next working day (Monday).

    For the X-mas and new year period from 20 Dec to 05 Jan the payment is non-refundable.

    In case you cancel the trip after commencement, refund would be restricted to a limited amount only which too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers/ contractors we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation & missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

    Trekking, Tour and adventure actives in Himalayan region carry an inherent risk to life and goods. The natural calamities may cause injury and loss of life, which is beyond any control. Tour Uttarakhand does its best to minimize all types of risks, discomfort and hazard to the best of their ability, yet there are chances of accidents, mishaps and deficiency in service.


    • Any delay from the customer’s side will lead to cancellation of trek/ tour/ adventure activities.
    • Trekking Tour Adventure maybe cancelled due to some unavoidable circumstances i.e- weather condition, govt. notification, land sliding or any other natural calamity.
    • Trekking in Uttrakhand reserves the right to discontinue, modify any trek, tour & adventure activities without assigning any reasons or without any prior intimation whatsoever.
    • Anybody found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs medically or physically unfit (any serious ailment, weak heart conditions, epilepsy, asthma, expecting mothers etc.) unfit for any reasons in the wisdom of the trek leader/guide/instructor will not be allowed for trekking /tour/ adventure activities. Request for a refund or a discount in such situation will not be entertained. Decision of the trek lead/guide/management in this regard would be final.
    • Total decided package cost will not be affected if there is any reduction in the number of persons
    • Minimum required 50% of amount to get confirmed the trek/tour/adventure activities.
