The most awaited Badrinath Kedarnath Dham Yatra starts as you arrive at Haridwar. You will be picked up from the Haridwar Railway station for a straight drive to Guptkashi.

The name of this holy place referred to as "Hidden Varanasi' is connected to Kedarnath by a number of means. According to mythology, this is the place where Lord Shiva concealed himself when Pandava brothers were searching for his divine glimpse. Lord Shiva first hid at Guptkashi but later proceeded further up and reached the valley to Kedarnath. Here the Pandavas finally got his Darshan and their wish fulfilled. Gupkashi is the place where the pandas (hereditary pilgrimage priests) of Kedarnath live during the winter when the temple is closed. Also, the Bigraha (idol) of Kedarnath passes through Guptkashi to reach Ukhimath where the idol is worshiped for six months of winter.
